The Head of Government holds a meeting with the heads of the chambers of agriculture and the heads of the chambers of handicrafts on the universalization of social protection

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, a meeting on the universalization of social protection, in the presence of the following ladies and gentlemen: Minister of the Interior, Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Khalid Ait Taleb, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mr. Mohamed Sadiki, and Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Economy Social and Solidarity, Mrs. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the budget, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, in addition to the Director General of the National Social Security Fund, the President of the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development, the presidents of the chambers of agriculture and the presidents of the chambers of handicrafts.
This meeting is part of a series of meetings dedicated to tracking the implementation of social protection workshops in accordance with the timetable set by His Majesty the King, may God assist him, in his high directives.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of Government recalled the stages made by the government since the beginning of its mandate within the framework of the implementation of the royal workshops to universalize social protection for all Moroccans, especially in the part related to the universalization of compulsory basic sickness insurance by the end of 2022.
 


He pointed out that so far, 22 implementing decrees have been issued, which opened the door to health insurance for 11 million citizens and citizens of unpaid workers and those with rights associated with them, stressing that the compulsory health coverage system is based on the principle of solidarity and on the basis of solidarity resources between the participants of unpaid workers, private sector employees and public sector employees. The Head of Government stressed that the gains of the beneficiaries of the RAMED system will remain preserved and will be strengthened under compulsory health coverage.
The Head of Government called on the various stakeholders and partners in the agricultural and handicraft sectors to fully engage in order to make this royal workshop a success, stressing the need for collective mobilization to sensitize citizens concerned to the importance of participating in this important royal workshop.
On the other hand, representatives of the Chambers of Agriculture and the Chambers of Handicrafts affirmed their full readiness to participate in the success of these workshops, and to mobilize all frameworks, means, and mechanisms to educate workers in the agricultural and handicraft sectors of the need to enroll and register in the basic compulsory insurance system for illness, because of its great importance in preserving their dignity.
