Morocco has launched, thanks to the wise royal leadership, a new phase of development, characterized by the building of a social state, The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch said Wednesday in Davos.

In an intervention at the World Economic Forum, he said that in one year, and in full respect of the royal agenda, the government was able to establish the regulatory framework for compulsory sickness insurance and guarantee the rights of two-thirds of citizens who have not benefited from it until now.

During the year, the ambition was to go further by extending direct support in the form of family allowances, thanks to an effective targeting system for social assistance.

At the same time, Mr. Akhannouch recalled during the session, which was activated by the founding president of the Davos Forum, Mr. Klaus Schwab, that the government has firmly confronted the multiple crises that punctuated 2022: energy with record high global prices, climate with the worst drought recorded in 40 years, and monetary with the return of inflation. It is about measures to accompany and support the budget, as well as the maintenance of macroeconomic balances and priority reforms.

In this context, he highlighted the government's success in ensuring supply, containing inflation, and continuing to reduce the deficit inherited from 2020.

In 2023, the head of government continued, care has been taken to allocate a third of the state budget to health and education, of which $7 billion is allocated to schools, because the goal is to "rebuild confidence in public schools and strengthen the basic skills of all students."

On the other hand, Mr. Akhannouch stressed the need to double the opportunities for young people to enter the labor market and unleash their creative energies, stressing that Morocco aims to create a strong link between the economic and social, while consolidating the ecological transition.

A Moroccan delegation, led by The Head of Government Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, is participating in the World Economic Forum in Davos, which runs from January 16th to 20th.

The delegation includes Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Ms. Leila Benali, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies, Mr. Mohcine Jazouli, and the Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development, Ali Seddiki.
