He also reviewed two structural hospital projects designed to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the province, in accordance with the High Royal Directives aimed at establishing an efficient, sustainable, and equitable healthcare system that ensures fair access to quality healthcare services for all citizens.
On this occasion, the Head of Government affirmed that the government is working diligently to accelerate the upgrading of health infrastructures and bring medical services closer to citizens. This effort aims to improve their reception, orientation, and quality of care, while establishing spatial equity in access to healthcare services, in line with the insightful Directives of His Majesty The King, may God assist Him.
The new Tamanar Proximity Hospital represents a qualitative addition to the region's healthcare offering. It will help improve the local population's access to basic and specialized healthcare, reduce territorial disparities in access to treatment, and spare citizens the burden of traveling to other areas to receive medical services.
The health facility was built on a total area of over 30,000 square meters, with an overall investment exceeding 126 million dirhams. It is designed to serve a population of more than 86,000 people spread across 15 territorial communes. Furthermore, qualified human resources comprising 83 health professionals have been mobilized to provide accessible healthcare services tailored to the population's needs.
The Head of Government was also presented with the rehabilitation and expansion project of the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Provincial Hospital Center in Essaouira, as well as the implementation schedule for a new Provincial Hospital Center in the city, whose construction will commence before the end of the current year.
Regarding the rehabilitation and expansion of the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Provincial Hospital Center, the first phase covers a land area of over 31,000 square meters and a built area of approximately 9,000 square meters. With a total budget exceeding 83 million dirhams, the project will increase the capacity to 167 beds. The works, expected to be launched by late July, should take about 8 months.
Once completed, this project will enhance the capacity and improve the quality of care within the Provincial Hospital Center by providing an integrated healthcare offering. This includes general medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, laboratory services, maternity, neonatal care, functional rehabilitation, and orthopedic surgery, in addition to all necessary technical, logistical, and administrative facilities.
As for the project to build an additional Provincial Hospital Center in Essaouira, it will be established on a site of approximately 10 hectares, with a covered area of nearly 48,000 square meters. With a capacity of 280 beds, it represents an estimated total investment of around 890 million dirhams.
This new Provincial Hospital Center will consist of several medical, technical, and administrative clusters. These include an administrative cluster, a hospital cluster, a mobile cluster, a medico-technical cluster, a medico-technical logistics cluster, and general logistics. It will also feature an operating theater, intensive care, resuscitation, and neonatology units, as well as outpatient consultations, medical imaging, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and an emergency department, thus ensuring a comprehensive and multidisciplinary healthcare offering.
These healthcare infrastructure projects are part of the government's commitment to implementing the Royal project regarding the reform of the national health system with the necessary speed and quality. They will contribute to strengthening the hospital base in the Essaouira province, improving the quality of healthcare services, modernizing medical infrastructure and equipment, and enhancing patient care conditions to meet the needs of the population and support governmental efforts in deploying the national health system reform on a regional level.
