The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, chaired the 10th National Investment Commission on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in Rabat. This commission was established under the new Investment Charter, which has been operational since March 2023, in accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI—may God assist him.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of Government highlighted the strong investment momentum the Kingdom has experienced since the implementation of the new Investment Charter. He noted that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) reached record levels in 2025, totaling approximately 56.1 billion dirhams, a 22% increase compared to the previous peak recorded in 2018.
The Head of Government assured that the implementation of the support scheme for MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) establishes a new territorial dynamic, consistent with the Royal vision to promote investment as a lever for the national economy. This vision aims to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development while creating employment opportunities, particularly for young people.
During this session, the National Investment Commission approved 30 convention projects and 14 addenda to existing conventions under the primary support scheme. The 44 approved projects represent a total investment of 86.36 billion dirhams, which will enable the creation of nearly 20,500 jobs, including 9,000 direct and 11,500 indirect positions.
The investments approved under the primary scheme cover 19 provinces and prefectures across 10 of the Kingdom’s regions. These provinces notably include Inezgane, Ait Melloul, Khémisset, Midelt, Nador, Oued Eddahab, and Rehamna.
These projects span 18 sectors of activity, including tourism, renewable energy, the automotive industry, airport infrastructure, the agri-food industry, healthcare, railway infrastructure, mining, telecommunications, the chemical and parachemical industry, the aerospace industry, and higher education.
Regarding these 44 projects, the automotive industry is the leading job provider, accounting for 38% of the total, followed by tourism at 17%, and the agri-food industry at 12%.
Furthermore, under the strategic support scheme, the National Investment Commission approved two convention projects totaling 12 billion dirhams—creating more than 2,100 direct jobs—and one project addendum.
These three projects cover two sectors of activity, namely the chemical and automotive industries, and will be located in three regions: Casablanca-Settat, the Oriental, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima.
The Commission also granted "strategic status" to four additional projects, representing a total investment of more than 33 billion dirhams and enabling the creation of 4,000 direct jobs.
