Return to Legal Time Corresponding to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) (Press Release)
Pursuant to the provisions of Decree No. 2.26.530 of 9 Muharram 1448 (June 25, 2026), concerning legal time, the Kingdom of Morocco is set to restore legal time corresponding to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Accordingly, clocks will be set back by sixty (60) minutes at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree No. 455-67 of 23 Safar 1387 (June 2, 1967), concerning legal time. This measure follows the Government's decision to restore GMT as the legal time throughout the national territory. Decree No. 2.26.530 also provides for the repeal of Decree No. 2.18.855 of 16 Safar 1440 (October 26, 2018), which introduced the addition of sixty (60) minutes to legal time.
Accordingly, as of 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026, the Kingdom's legal time will once again be set in accordance with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
