Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government, and Mr. Khalid Ait Taleb, Minister of Health and Social Protection, paid a field visit on Monday, January 30, 2023, to three health centers. These include a village health center in Benslimane and two urban centers in Mohammedia and Rabat, after being rehabilitated and equipped in 2022, as part of the government's plan to improve and expand the health offer, in the implementation of the High Royal Instructions.
The Head of Government and the Minister of Health and Social Protection were accompanied on their visit to the Rabat Urban Health Centre by Mr. Mohamed Yacoubi, Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra Region and the Prefecture of Rabat, in the presence of the Mayor of Rabat Ms. Asmaa Rhlalou, and Mr. Hicham M’daghri Alaoui, Governor of Mohammedia, on a visit to the Mohammedia Urban Health Centre, and Samir Yazidi, Governor of Benslimane Province, on their visit to the Benslimane Rural Health Centre.
The rehabilitation of these health centers and raising the quality of services they provide to citizens are part of the government's fulfillment of its commitments, as it succeeded in rehabilitating 100 health centers for proximity in the first year of its mandate, with a view to reaching 1,400 health centers.
These health centers are being rehabilitated and equipped with modern and advanced means and equipment, in addition to providing them with the necessary human resources to respond to the needs of citizens in the field of basic health services, upgrade them and bring them closer to the population. As well as to ensure social and territorial justice in the access of dependents to treatment.
This visit reflects the importance that the government attaches to facilitating citizens' access to quality health services, within the framework of workshops to reform the national health system, in line with the royal vision, aimed at bringing about a radical and deep reform of the health system, as well as the universalization of health and social coverage, in order to consolidate the foundations of the social state.
In parallel with its efforts to strengthen the health offer, and in accordance with the High Royal Directives, the Government is also betting on empowering these health centers with the necessary human resources. On the one hand, the government is organizing the course of treatment and motivating health professionals to work in the public sector, in order to combat medical deserts, improve health density in various regions of the Kingdom, and reduce the burden on university hospitals. On the other hand, it is working to increase the number of doctors and nurses graduating in 2023 by 20%, with a view to reaching 100%. in 2026, with more than 90,000 workers in the health sector.
It is worth mentioning that the government has an integrated vision for reforming the national health system, based on four main pillars, namely the adoption of good governance concerned with strengthening the mechanisms of regulation, controlling the work of actors, strengthening hospital governance and territorial planning for health offering, motivating professionals in the sector, and improving reception spaces, as well as digitizing the health system, to control and track the course of treatment of citizens at various stages of treatment.
