The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received Mr. François Provost, Executive Director of the Renault Group, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in Rabat, in the presence of Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade.
This meeting was an opportunity to discuss mechanisms for strengthening the Renault Group's industrial ecosystem in Morocco, which will contribute to the development of the automotive sector in the Kingdom. This sector is now a proven driver of growth and industrial acceleration, thanks to the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him.
On this occasion, the Head of Government affirmed that Morocco continues, under the impetus of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, to capitalize on its achievements in the field of the automotive industry through partnerships with leading global groups. He stressed that the challenge for our country remains the opening of this industry to cutting-edge technologies with a view to strengthening the sector's international competitiveness and enhancing Moroccan expertise.
The Head of Government subsequently chaired the signing ceremony of an addendum to the investment agreement, signed by Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, and Mr. François Provost, Executive Director of the Renault Group. This addendum consolidates the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and Renault Group Morocco by reinforcing mutual commitments aimed at ensuring the sustainable nature of the development of the automotive industry ecosystem in the Kingdom. This addendum will allow for the creation of 7,500 direct and indirect jobs.
Under this agreement, Renault Group Morocco is entering a new phase of industrial development marked, in the short term, by the renewal of its iconic models. In the medium term, the Group will reinforce its industrial ecosystem in Morocco with the launch of a new series of electric vehicles by 2030, alongside the modernization of its industrial tools and production lines and the upskilling of human resources, which confirms the Group's confidence in the Moroccan industrial platform.
Furthermore, this addendum opens a new phase, marked by the launch of a structuring development plan covering the period 2025 – 2030. This plan aims to pursue the modernization of the Renault Group's industrial ecosystem in Morocco through the creation of an engineering center dedicated to research and development activities before the end of 2025 and the consolidation of the Kingdom's industrial ambition by producing hybrid and electric motor vehicles in Morocco.
It should be noted that last year, Renault Group Morocco produced over 413,000 vehicles, with 90% of the "Made in Morocco" vehicle production being exported to more than 68 countries.
