This agreement aims at the implementation of integrated electricity production projects from renewable energy sources, as part of the government's efforts to enhance energy efficiency in Morocco, in accordance with the High Royal Directives.
This accord is part of the desire to inject new momentum into the implementation of the National Renewable Energy Program (PNER), while constituting an important step in the rebuilding of an effective partnership between the government and the public establishments and enterprises operating in the renewable energy sector, in order to guarantee a sovereign, efficient, and sustainable energy transition.
The agreement will make it possible to accelerate the provision of 5 gigawatts of green electricity to Moroccan industry by 2030, while rationalizing costs across the entire value chain and ensuring an equitable sharing of responsibilities between the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN).
It also guarantees the contractual and economic stability of renewable energy projects, in accordance with the objectives of the State participation policy, aimed at strengthening complementarity and convergence among public establishments and enterprises.
