Press Release: Government launches rehabilitation program for areas affected by exceptional flooding in the city of Safi
In implementation of the High Royal Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and as an illustration of the constant High solicitude the Sovereign shows toward citizens in all circumstances—particularly regarding the support, assistance, and all forms of aid provided to disaster-affected persons—the government has launched a rehabilitation program for the areas affected by the exceptional floods that occurred in the city of Safi on Sunday, December 14, 2025, following unprecedented torrential rainfall that caused loss of life and material damage to several neighborhoods, infrastructure, and essential facilities.
Adopting a comprehensive approach, this program is based on a set of measures designed to ensure a rapid and effective intervention and an immediate response to the needs of the affected populations.
The program includes a package of urgent practical measures aimed at immediately mitigating the impact of this disaster. These include the granting of emergency aid to families who lost personal property and the repair of damaged homes through the completion of necessary restoration work, in addition to the reconstruction, restoration, and renovation of damaged commercial premises, while providing support to their owners. These actions are in line with the High Royal Orientations aimed at preserving the dignity of citizens, guaranteeing decent living conditions, and strengthening resilience.
In this framework, and in accordance with the High Orientations of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, the necessary human and logistical resources have been mobilized, while coordination has been strengthened among all stakeholders involved, the same source specified. It added that local authorities will initiate, as soon as possible and in an effective manner, the implementation of the various programmed measures and actions, with the aim of ensuring a swift and efficient intervention, responding promptly to the needs of the affected populations, and guaranteeing the sound and progressive execution of the program’s various components.
The launch of this program reflects, once again, the spirit of commitment and responsibility in managing the effects of natural disasters. It also conveys the High Solicitude with which His Majesty the King, may God preserve Him, surrounds the citizens, as well as His concern for being close to them and listening to their concerns, in order to meet their essential needs within the framework of a global solidarity-based approach aimed at ensuring sustainable rehabilitation and strengthening the prevention of future risks.
