The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, held talks on Monday, January 26, 2026, in Rabat, with the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Senegal, HE Ousmane Sonko, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom. This visit takes place within the framework of the 15th Moroccan-Senegalese Joint High Commission, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, as well as the Ambassador of Morocco to Dakar.
During their talks, both parties affirmed the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal, and their permanent aspiration to elevate bilateral cooperation to multidimensional levels, in accordance with the will of the two Heads of State, HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and HE Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal.
Both parties also emphasized that the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal remain faithful to the spirit of brotherhood, solidarity, and respect upheld by each for the benefit of the African continent. They also hailed the role of the Moroccan community established in Senegal and the Senegalese community established in Morocco in enriching the privileged partnership between the two countries.
The Head of Government highlighted the close human, spiritual, and economic ties that unite the two countries, which are clearly reflected in the eight visits made by HM the King, may God assist Him, to Senegal. He also emphasized the pivotal role of the Republic of Senegal in the Royal initiatives aimed at fostering development in Africa, notably the Royal Initiative for Atlantic Africa, which aims to facilitate the access of Sahel States to the Atlantic Ocean.
These talks were also an opportunity to note the qualitative leap achieved in the exchange of ministerial visits, the enrichment of the legal framework governing bilateral cooperation, and the consolidation of the economic partnership and investments since HE Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s accession to the presidency of the Republic of Senegal.
The holding of the 15th Moroccan-Senegalese Joint High Commission provides an opportunity to strengthen sectoral cooperation between the two countries through the implementation of structural projects, particularly in the fields of agriculture, energy, trade, the digital economy, and others.
